Historie

Colonel Blondeel road (unpaved, quiet ride) The Colonel Blondeel road could also have been called the 'Captain Blunt road'. Captain Blunt was the nickname of Colonel Eddy Blondeel, the Belgian reserve officer with the Belgian Regiment Special Air Service, who managed to liberate the village of Veele with his Belgian unit on 12 April 1945. Shortly before, the Germans had blown up the bridge over the Mussel-A canal. But the Belgians, followed by the Poles, did not come from that side, but from Vlagtwedde, much to the Germans' surprise.
